Does anybody here know how to use batch codes?

If so please answer on the poll. I just want to know

Another thing, I would like to know who it is who knows how to code in batch. Because I might want to learn from you.

Batch isn't programming, but ok.

Why do you need to learn batch, specifically?

Closest thing is scripting, but it isn't even that really
It's just... a load of basic system calls in a line Razz

Hahaha.

I think Chris may have just died a little inside.

My school has a block on batch files, unfortunately. No cmd for me unless the computer I'm using is disconnected from the network.

EDIT: A good quote.

you can't learn C++ in just 2 hours - you would need a 2k+ page book...

C and C++ are only for serious programmers I'd say.

They're definitely the best languages to use if you want vast quantities of power, but you have to work for that.

After years of learning and constantly using C++, I think I can say I know wield that power.

other languages can have that aumount of power.

for instance, the current version of Taikodom was entirely made using java, even though they switched to the unity engine for its new version(currently in closed beta testing for brazil).

That's nowhere near as resource intensive as, say, a CryENGINE based game (written in C++ of course)

Other languages can do games, sure. But for really low-level control and speed C++ is pretty much the one to use. C works as well, but it has no "proper" object-orientation meaning a lot of people find it harder to use.

No offsense or bragging intended, but I have been programming for most of my life (using C++ from the start for most things) and I have experience in most industry standard languages.

Edit:
I'm in no way bashing other languages, I'm just stating the main use of a C-level language.

Chris, you're all wrong Wink

If you want power, use assembly Razz

I really need to learn C or C++ though. Currently my main ones are Haskell and Lua. I've been wanting to ask you for a while: what are your thoughts on Lisp (in general)?

"If you want power, use assembly"
You're half right; you COULD get a lot more power with it, but you'd have to be a programming god to manage it xD

(I've (never used) lisp actually, it's(one of the few(I) haven't) gotten around to (using))

(+rep if you see what I did there)

Also, if you want any sort of help with learning C++ I'll be happy to help!
